The Event 2009 with Rick Gage
Meet Rick: Once a promising college football coach, Rick Gage walked away from coaching football and surrendered his life to full-time evangelistic ministry. He has always had a passion for small communities which makes him a perfect fit for Pataskala and the surrounding communities. Since Gage founded GO TELL Crusades in 1989, he has visited more than 500 small-town venues nationally, helping about 250,000 people reconnect with Christianity.
Rick says there are a lot of similarities between coaching and ministry. Just as a coach is always striving to get the most out of his players by constantly challenging and motivating them, in ministry you’re always wanting God’s best in peoples’ lives and doing everything you can to inspire them to be great for God. His campaigns often attract well-know individuals. College football coaches Bobby Bowden and Mark Richt, and Hall of Famer and former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka have endorsed his ministry.
In addition to Rick, his close friend and evangelist, Rick Stanley, will be speaking Monday night at 7:00PM. Rick is the step-brother of Elvis Presley. They both will be conducting assemblies in local high schools and middle schools on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

U Can Change...

God is doing amazing things in the lives of people here at Jersey. We often believe His work is restricted to the past or is only for other believers, never realizing that God wants to bring about change in our lives today. Does God want to bring change in your life?
Over the next couple of months, Pastor John will devote his sermon series to teaching us about how to change. He has written five statements that will be the focus during this series:
-I believe God is all-powerful.
-I believe God is good and just.
-I believe God has a wonderful plan for my life.
-I am open to hear how He desires for me to change.
-By HIS power, I CAN change.
Begin reading and meditating on the change God desires to bring about in you.
Family Curb Appeal

When a family is attempting to sell a home they hire a professional realtor who looks for the curb appeal of the home. They know they are more likely to sell a home if those driving by find the exterior appealing. As followers of Christ, our families should live lives in such a way that as people “drive by” there is a Christ appeal that makes them want to know more about our faith.
In his new sermon series titled “Family Curb Appeal”, Pastor John will be looking at various aspects of family life and steps we can take to “spruce up” our lives so that more people are willing to make the best investment of their life, and “buy into” the Gospel.
GREED

Many of us struggle with greed. We want our “toys” and because we don’t want to wait, we have gotten up to our necks in credit card debt. When buying the one asset we know would appreciate in value, a home, we wanted the biggest home in the best neighborhood with the least amount of money down. The lenders driven by the greed for a quick payoff drove them to sign up people for loans that were way beyond the borrowers’ abilities. The greed has resulted in a financial crisis beyond any ones imaginations.
The politicians believe an economic stimulus is the way out of this mess, but we are convinced the real solution is found in the Bible. The cause is simple – the sin of greed.

What IF...

Do you know that 97% of what people fear never comes to be? Yet "What IFs" can cripple even the most trusting Christian. Do you trust God that what you fear most will never come to be? But, what if it does? Is fear from God? Fear can show that we lack faith in God and the power of God. Yet the Bible tells us "fear of God is the beginning of all wisdom" (Psalms 111:10). In Pastor John's March sermon series, "What IF…?", he will cover many of the what IFs that grip us today, and through 2 Timothy 1:7 give us a firm foundation so that if our "What IF" comes true we can see God's blessings through it.
Love & Respect

Is this...The End?

With war in the Middle East, radical Islam on the rise, and the collapse of the United States economy, many people are asking the question, "Is this…The END?"
Over the next few weeks we will conduct a study of the Bible that will give answers to the questions, "What happens to America?","Will Christians experience the wrath of God during the tribulation?", and "Who is the Antichrist and will he rule the entire world?"
Through providing Biblically based answers to these questions (and many more) you will gain greater hope and confidence about the future during these turbulent times.
Don't Let the Grinch Steal Your Christmas

Christmas should be a time when all of God's children joyfully celebrate the gift of Jesus, but the Grinch (Satan) would love to make it a season of misery - not merriment. During worship in December, we will be looking at some ways to keep Whoville (Jersey) joyful. We are certain that you'll leave worship with a smile on your face and no "grinch" will be able to steal your joy!
More out of Less

In a time of economic adversity each of us is attempting to make more out of what we have. For many people they are earning less money, have less savings, and have less peace of mind. Therefore, the challenge to survive is great and thoughts of "more" seems impossible, but our God is delighted to be glorified by taking little and making it much.
Faith that Works

For the believer, having Christ as your personal Savior is only the beginning. It is one thing to talk about having faith and a love for Christ, but the evidence that this faith is real is our behavior, not what we say. Many of the problems Christians face are a result of spiritual immaturity; problems in personal lives, in homes and in churches. If Christians would just grow up, they would become victors instead of victims! God has given us His blueprint for maturity in the Epistle of James. Come “grow” with us as Pastor John leads the way through this study of the book of James.

Runnin' Down a Dream

Every person has dreams of achievement, goals they want to attain, mountains they want to climb, and destinations they are determined to reach. Sometimes in route to our dream we come to a fork in the road and we don't know which way to turn. Even after examining the pros and cons of every direction, we can still not be certain what to do. People have all kinds of decision making processes they go through - whats the best one? What are we to do when we don't know what to do? When we lack clear direction, how do we find it?
Hazardous Waste

Hazardous waste is a left over bi-product with properties that make it dangerous or potentially harmful to human health or the environment. Pastor John’s sermon series in June will address the necessity of every believer to live intentionally; making full effort to fulfill the Great Commission and avoid becoming A Hazardous Waste. This series will address 5 errors Christians can make: Missing the call, Misunderstand the Message, Miscalculating the Sacrifice, Miscarriage of Cooperation and the Misaligned Methods. Join us each Sunday in June and learn how your life can be a blessing and not a hazardous waste to yourself and others.
Patriotic Celebration

Join us on Sunday, July 6 for our Patriotic Celebration. It will be a special day of celebration in each of our four worship venues. Don't miss this exciting day of worship as we celebrate our freedom as a nation and our freedom in Jesus. Join us at 8:30, 9:45 and 11:00AM.
Four Ordinary Women

In this sermon series Pastor John will look into the lives of four ordinary women mentioned in the Old and New Testaments. Rahab: reminds us of how dramatically God’s grace can rebuild a sin-ravaged life. Hannah: exemplified the dedication of motherhood and the importance of making one’s home a place where God is honored above all. Anna: is briefly mentioned in scripture but is an example to us all of how to be a faithful witness to the glory of God, and then there is Lydia: a woman who had a heart wide open for Christ. Not one of these women were perfect, faith was the root of everything that made these women extraordinary. They are our reminders that God uses imperfect vessels “that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us” 2 Cor. 4:7
Unlocking Financial Freedom

When it comes to finances, it's easy to get off track and the task of getting back on track can seem overwhelming. It feels like an uphill climb and we usually end up with more questions than answers...Is it possible to have too much stuff? Should I spend it or save it? Why do I feel stuck in my current job? And what does God really say about debt? Join us in this four part series as we answer these questions and discover what God's Word says about money and how we can get back on the track to financial freedom.
