"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it." - Malachi 3:10
"Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." - 2 Cor. 9:7
Stewardship at Jersey follows the model provided by Malachi 3:10. Believers ae encouraged to tithe on a regular basis, and this giving forms the means to sustain and grow the ministries of the church. Based on the Biblical example provided by Abraham in Genesis 14, Christians are expected to give at least 10% of their gross income. This not only supports obedience to the Lord's commands regarding tithing, but it also allows a believer to worship God through giving. We believe that the functions of the church should be actively supported through the consistent financial gifts of its members.
Contributions may be made to the church by check, payable to Jersey Baptist Church, or cash placed in the offering plate or mailed to the church. Arrangements can be made for regular electronic fund transfers or direct draw on a bank account. To arrange for this, contact Herb Coffield at 740-927-1859 x118. Records of contributions are kept private, but are provided by the church to the contributor for tax purposes. To facilitate this, we encourage you to order and use offering envelopes which will be mailed monthly to your home address. To arrange for this, please contact Lynn Young at 740-927-1859 x100. Best efforts will be made to attribute contributions to the correct person if envelopes are not used, but please make the source very clear.
If you have any questions regarding the Biblical basis for tithing, please do not hesitate to contact us. It is our desire that each member have the opportunity to give to the Lord"s work and so help to fulfill the Great Commission of our Savior.
