Although 2009 has not quite yet expired, the Men’s Ministry team is looking ahead at what would like to
achieve and accomplish for next year. But before we do, we would like to recap and highlight some of the
events that took place this year.

After a wet and cold Spring, the men rallied around our church building for a full breakfast and a cleanup
around the church grounds. Bushes were trimmed, trees & flowers were planted, weeds were extracted
and spreading mulch. Guys worked in groups and many new friends were formed.

The summer was filled with various activities. Golf leagues resumed, men’s small groups met, as well as
a couple of new groups were formed.

This Fall had our men going full bore ( or should I say, “boar”). A total of over 5 hogs were cooked and
served in less than 2 months! Our first event took place in August at the Wild Game Dinner. Over 400
people attended, many first time visitors to JBC. Alt-star Bobby Richardson, was our speaker and the
pavilion was full of activities for kids, parents, hunters, etc. Let’s not forget about the dinner that cooked
up all kinds of critters that walk, crawl or fly. Our next event, was “The Event” in which our men once
more setup, cooked, and cleaned up after 800 people. A big hat’s-off to all of you who helped and
attended.

Our final event for this year takes place November 7th at JBC. We have been asked to serve the church
in helping to fix and restore areas around our building. We will need all levels of expertise for this project.
Most of the work will be moving and lifting light loads. We will provide a cook out for lunch and all work to
be completed in time to see Ohio State whip Penn State. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

That brings us up to the new year, 2010. What is our vision? What is our specific purpose? If you read
our last newsletter, you’ll recall we are striving to be “Men living by God’s design”. God has designed us
to grow in His Word, to Connect with Him, our family and other men, to Serve Him, and to Go out into the
world and share the gospel in what we say and do. It is a great recipe, but a lot of us still don’t know how
to cook... Well, that is why we have a ministry for men.

Our ministry team leaders are focused on using their talents and abilities to help men develop spiritually
in all areas of our lives. What makes men different is the way we live out our promises. The promise we
make to God, our family, ourselves, work, income, etc. It is extremely hard to live out those promises day
after day. Especially when we do it alone. God designed men to share their life and experiences with
others. Our goal and vision is to have every man at Jersey Baptist feel connected and be a part of a great
team with other men. We will offer opportunities to serve, attend various events, get involved in a small
group, or just have fun eating and hanging out with each other. For some. it may seem unnatural or a
bit uncomfortable at first But, very soon you’ll find out most of us are all pretty much alike. You’ll look
forward to serving in different areas, and began to trust others in a group. It’s all part of the growth that
takes place if we put our hearts into it.
